1. God’s necessary work of judgment is seen in a variety of situations, including Adam and Eve (Genesis 3), the corrupt world of Noah’s day (Genesis 6-8), Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18-19), the Egyptian oppressors with plagues (Genesis 15:14; Genesis 7-12), the Israelites when they worshipped the golden calf (Exodus 32:26-35), Achan (Joshua 7), foreign rulers like Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar (Daniel 4 and 5), and in the New Testament on various individuals (Herod, Ananias and Sapphira, Elymas etc.).
